Williams have announced their 2008 driver line up, enlisting rookie Kazuki Nakajima and more importantly, retaining the services of Nico Rosberg.

In the wake of Fernando Alonso’s departure from McLAren, this is big news as Rosberg was heavily tipped to take up the empty post at Ron Dennis’ squad.

However, Williams have resolved not to relinquish their most valuable asset, and have secured him his third season at the Grove based team.

'After two seasons of racing for AT&T Williams, Rosberg is an established and highly regarded talent and he will form the mainstay of the team's continued drive towards the front of the field,' Williams declared.

Team boss Frank Williams added: "I am delighted to confirm that Nico will be racing for the team for his third consecutive year after demonstrating impressive and widely applauded form in 2007. “

Williams continued to announce former test driver, Kazuki Nakajima as Rosberg’s teammate.
“Nico will be ably partnered by Kazuki, who has impressed the team over the past year.

He has pace and the right aptitude to develop into a competitive Formula One racer and over the course of the next season, we will provide him with all the necessary support and assistance to hone his talents."

While Nakajima’s appointment is most likely at the behest of engine provider’s Toyota – the young Japanese did perform admirably in his one-off debut in Brazil.

Despite his unfortunate pit-lane blunder, in which he knocked down afew of his mechanics – the son of former grand prix racer, Saturu finished a commendable tenth and set fifth fastest race lap – ahead of Rosberg.

Nakajima said that he is looking forward to working with Rosberg.

"It's really great to work with Nico, he's going to be a really good benchmark for me," he told Reuters.

"Driving-wise there are many things to learn from him and it will be nice if I can push him and we can learn from each other."

The newcomer has his sights set on usurping Takuma Sato as his country's best driver.
"It would be nice for me to be the top Japanese driver but to achieve that I have to push a lot, even if I am in a good team," he told in an interview.

"But that's the target and that's what I want to achieve for next year."
