Rumour mill has Kimi out of Ferrari
June 21st 2007 02:07
Rumours from sections of the German and Italian press speculate Ferrari driver, Kimi Raikkonen’s impending departure from the team at the end of this season.
Despite winning the opening round from pole, the Finn has failed to impress this season, and has often been outperformed by Brazilian teammate, Felipe Massa.
Germany’s Auto-Bild-Motorsport, reported that Ferrari are already searching for a replacement for the 27-year-old.
McLaren’s unsettled Fernando Alonso, Williams’ impressive Nico Rosberg and even Kimi’s predecessor, Michael Schumacher, were all mooted as possible replacements.
Gossip from Italy meanwhile, had put Raikkonen in Ralf Schumacher’s Toyota seat, after the German has struggled this season.
While unconfirmed and unlikely, these reports still emphasise the pressure that is now on the Maranello squad, and their star driver.
