Kubica keen to make Indy

Following his horrific crash at Montreal on Sunday, BMW’s Robert Kubica is keen to be fit for the race at Indianapolis this coming weekend.
The Pole was released earlier today from a Montreal hospital, after extensive scans failed to detect any serious injury.
He suffered a light concussion and a sprained right ankle in the crash, but reported no pain as he left the hospital, driving himself to the airport in a BMW M5.
“As you can see I’m quite in good shape,” he said, “and I’m hoping to be going to Indianapolis if the doctors say it’s ok.”
“I feel good,” he added, “I was very lucky, it was a big accident, but fortunately, nothing is hurt.”
Kubica said he remembered everything of the spectacular crash, and was quick to thank team boss Mario Thiessen and other members of the team who visited him in hospital.
He also thanked Toyota’s Jarno Trulli, the man whom he collided with on lap 27 of the grand prix, who also visited the Pole at his bedside.
“I am happy that I have been able to leave hospital so quickly,” said Kubica, “and I will now prepare for the race in Indianapolis.”
The BMW driver will undergo further tests by the FIA medical delegate on Thursday to determine if he is fit to race.
Should he be declared unfit, BMW’s talented, young test driver Sebastian Vettel is favoured to replace the Pole, however, fellow tester, Timo Glock is still a possibility due to his previous racing experience.

Ponderous
The cockpit and main body of the car remained intact despite flying into a wall at 300 km/h - quite astonishing really.
Glad to hear Kubica is ok.
