Ferrari vow to fight back
June 19th 2007 04:33
Ferrari team boss Jean Todt, and driver Felipe Massa have both declared their intentions in getting the Scuderia back on top in the 2007 season.
Ferrari trail McLaren by a massive 35-points in the Constructor’s Championship, and Massa sits in third in the Driver’s Championship, 19 points behind leader, Lewis Hamilton.
In the wake of a third successive McLaren one-two at the US Grand Prix on Sunday, Jean Todt stated his desire to turn the tables back into Ferrari’s favour.
"We cannot deny we are disappointed with how the last few grands prix have turned out, but we strongly insist that we really want to turn the situation around," said the Frenchman.
"This week in Silverstone, we will try out some new developments which should help us in getting back to the level we were at from the start of the Championship," he added.
Massa echoed his boss’ sentiments in the post race interview at Indianapolis, where he finished third.
"We don't like to be behind,” said the Brazilian, “When you see our competitors in front, you are always a bit worried.”
With ten races still to run, Ferrari are not yet out of contention, however despite having the quicker car at the start of the season, the Maranello based team are struggling to stay on terms with a dominant McLaren outfit.
"We need to be together to improve and I trust my team. I know we can do it, I know we have the possibilities to do it,” said Massa.
“We are going to work, for sure, a lot these two weeks to try to improve the car,” he said, “Working very hard."
