Bridgestone to investigate Hamilton's tyre

The right-front Bridgestone Potenza tyre that ruined Lewis Hamilton’s race for McLaren in Turkey has been sent back to Japan for examination.
The offending tyre was believed to have suffered a puncture that led to a blow out when Lewis Hamilton braked for turn nine on the 42nd lap of the Turkish Grand Prix.
The failure sent the championship-leading rookie from third to fifth, crucial in the context of the tight battle that is being waged by the four drivers of McLaren and Ferrari.
McLaren team principal, Ron Dennis was quoted by Germany’s Bild saying “It was probably a material defect," however, the team officially states that the cause of the problem is unknown.
"It was not a puncture, but other than that we do not know yet,“ said a Bridgestone spokesman.
“The tyre is now being sent to Tokyo to be X-rayed," he said.
Hamilton’s teammate, Fernando Alonso also expressed his concern over the tyre, saying that his Bridgestones were "not in perfect shape" over the last 15 laps or so in the race.
