Beaver destroys Ant's race

Anthony Davidson’s bizarre lock-up and impromptu pit stop from third place in the Canadian Grand Prix has been blamed on a stray beaver wandering across the track.
The Super Aguri driver was running in third place at the halfway point of the race, ahead of Alex Wurz who shared the same one-stop strategy, when he suddenly struck the stray animal, forcing him to lock-up and continue into the pits.
"It is such a shame about the beaver," lamented Davidson.
"It had it in for me for sure! I was running in third place at the time, behind the safety car. I was on a clear, one stop strategy and it damaged the front wing. I couldn't even see it at high speed and I could not understand why suddenly I locked up the front tyres and so I had to come in to the pitlane," he said.
Davidson’s unfortunate encounter with the unfortunate creature ruined a chance of a podium, on a day when his teammate, Takuma Sato charged past Fernando Alonso to claim sixth place.
